Philosophy

The Baby Lucious Neo-Natal Hub provides wellness and support for parents, children and families in safe, caring environment.  The program strives to reduce the number of First Nation infants put into out of home placements at birth and preservation of the family unit.  Assist high-risk Indigenous women and provide access to prenatal care.  Provide education and support to women and reduce at-risk behaviour.  Promote health, nutrition and development of children born to women accessing postnatal care.

Service eligibility

We support intermediate to high risk women and families who are pregnant and/or have children between the ages of 0 to 18 months.

baby lucious hub

The Baby Lucious Hub is a central access point for all services that the Neo-Natal Caring Services program has to offer located in the downtown core of Sault Ste. Marie in close proximity to other services such as:

  • Indian Friendship Centre
  • OW and ODSP offices
  • Methadone Programs
  • Food Banks
  • Pregnancy Centres
  • Women Specific Addiction Services

Transitional Housing

Neonatal Caring Services has two fully furnished one-bedroom apartments located on the second floor of our Baby Lucious Neonatal hub.  Units are provided in kind, for a minimum period of 31 days.  Women living in the units receive full supportive programming to help transition to independent living.
